Jio Platforms IPO: Expected Date, Price Band, Issue Size and Listing Explained
The IPO India's investors have waited years for is finally close. Jio Platforms, the Reliance-controlled digital and telecom business, is expected to open its initial public offering on October 21, 2026. At a reported size of around ₹37,700 crore, it would be the biggest IPO in Indian history, ahead of Hyundai Motor India's ₹27,859 crore issue in 2024.
Most details are still based on reports rather than the final prospectus, so it's worth separating what's confirmed from what's expected. Here's what we know about the Jio Platforms IPO so far. You can follow live and upcoming issues on the GoPocket IPO page.

Jio Platforms IPO Size and Structure
According to the draft prospectus, as reported by Outlook Money, Jio Platforms plans to issue up to 270 million new shares, about 2.90% of its post-issue equity. There is no offer for sale, so Reliance Industries and other existing shareholders are not selling. The money goes to the company.
A note of caution on the numbers: at the reported price band, 270 million shares would raise roughly ₹31,000–₹33,000 crore, not the ₹37,700 crore that's widely quoted. That gap could be explained by a different final price, share count or rupee conversion. Wait for the RHP before relying on any single figure.
What Will Jio Do With the Money?
Up to ₹27,500 crore may be used to prepay, fully or partly, certain borrowings of its main subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm, according to the draft papers. The rest goes towards general corporate purposes. In plain terms, most of the IPO money would reduce debt rather than fund new projects. Lower debt means lower interest costs, which can support profits over time.
Who Owns Jio Platforms?
Before the IPO, Reliance Industries holds 66.43% of Jio Platforms and other shareholders hold 33.57%, as per the draft prospectus. Those other shareholders include global investors who bought stakes in 2020, when Jio Platforms raised over ₹1.5 lakh crore from companies such as Meta, Google, KKR and others. Because the IPO is a fresh issue, all existing holders will see their percentage stake diluted slightly.
If you hold Reliance shares, the IPO matters to you too. A listed Jio would put a market price on Reliance's biggest digital asset. We covered that angle in our article on the Reliance share price and Jio IPO impact. You can also track the Reliance Industries share price on GoPocket.
